¹⁷ As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives!^(A) Don’t look back,^(B) and don’t stop anywhere in the plain!^(C) Flee to the mountains^(D) or you will be swept away!”

¹⁶ then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. ¹⁷ Let no one on the housetop^(A) go down to take anything out of the house. ¹⁸ Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak.

⁶² Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”

²⁶ But Lot’s wife looked back,^(A) and she became a pillar of salt.^(B)

¹³ Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind^(A) and straining toward what is ahead, ¹⁴ I press on^(B) toward the goal to win the prize^(C) for which God has called^(D) me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

²² But flee there quickly, because I cannot do anything until you reach it.” (That is why the town was called Zoar.^[a](A))

³¹ On that day no one who is on the housetop, with possessions inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything.^{(A) 32} Remember Lot’s wife!^(B)

⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You brood of vipers!^(A) Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?^(B)
