¹⁴ But far be it from me to boast ^(A)except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which^[a] the world ^(B)has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

⁶ We know that ^(A)our old self^{[a] (B)}was crucified with him in order that ^(C)the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.

²³ Thus says the Lord: ^(A)“Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, ²⁴ but ^(B)let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. ^(C)For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”

²⁰ I have been ^(A)crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives ^(B)in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, ^(C)who loved me and ^(D)gave himself for me.

³ For ^(A)we are the circumcision, ^(B)who worship ^(C)by the Spirit of God^[a] and ^(D)glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh—

² For I decided to know nothing among you except ^(A)Jesus Christ and him crucified.

The Righteous Shall Live by Faith

¹⁶ For ^(A)I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is ^(B)the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew ^(C)first and also to ^(D)the Greek.

²⁴ And those who belong to Christ Jesus ^(A)have crucified the flesh with its ^(B)passions and desires.

^10 (A)For the sake of Christ, then, ^(B)I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For ^(C)when I am weak, then I am strong.

Concern for the Corinthian Church

^11 (D)I have been a fool! You forced me to it, for I ought to have been commended by you. For I was ^(E)not at all inferior to these super-apostles, ^(F)even though I am nothing.
