¹⁸ But if you are led by the Spirit,^(A) you are not under the law.^(B)

¹⁴ For those who are led by the Spirit of God^(A) are the children of God.^(B)

¹⁴ For sin shall no longer be your master,^(A) because you are not under the law,^(B) but under grace.^(C)

Slaves to Righteousness

¹⁵ What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace?^(D) By no means!

²⁵ Since we live by the Spirit,^(A) let us keep in step with the Spirit.

¹⁶ So I say, walk by the Spirit,^(A) and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.^(B)

¹³ But when he, the Spirit of truth,^(A) comes, he will guide you into all the truth.^(B) He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

¹⁶ “Come near^(A) me and listen^(B) to this:

²⁰ But you have an anointing^(A) from the Holy One,^(B) and all of you know the truth.^{[a](C) 21} I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it^(D) and because no lie comes from the truth. ²² Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son.^{(E) 23} No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.^(F)

²⁴ As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning^(G) remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father.^{(H) 25} And this is what he promised us—eternal life.^(I)

²⁶ I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray.^{(J) 27} As for you, the anointing^(K) you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things^(L) and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.^(M)
