Walking in the Spirit

¹⁶ I say then: ^(A)Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

²⁴ And those who are Christ’s ^(A)have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. ^25 (B)If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Sonship Through the Spirit

^12 (A)Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. ¹³ For ^(B)if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you ^(C)put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. ¹⁴ For ^(D)as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

¹⁹ Now ^(A)the works of the flesh are evident, which are: ^[a]adultery, ^[b]fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, ²¹ envy, ^[c]murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that ^(B)those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

⁸ For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap ^(A)everlasting life.

^5 (A)Therefore put to death ^(B)your members which are on the earth: ^(C)fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, ^(D)which is idolatry. ^6 (E)Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon ^(F)the sons of disobedience, ^7 (G)in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.

^8 (H)But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. ⁹ Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, ¹⁰ and have put on the new man who ^(I)is renewed in knowledge ^(J)according to the image of Him who ^(K)created him,

⁴ that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who ^(A)do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. ⁵ For ^(B)those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, ^(C)the things of the Spirit.

^13 (A)Let us walk ^[a]properly, as in the day, ^(B)not in revelry and drunkenness, ^(C)not in lewdness and lust, ^(D)not in strife and envy. ¹⁴ But ^(E)put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and ^(F)make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

Do Not Love the World

^15 (A)Do not love the world or the things in the world. ^(B)If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, ^(C)the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.
