²⁹ And ^(A)if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s ^(B)seed, and ^(C)heirs according to the promise.

⁶ that the Gentiles ^(A)should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel,

^7 (A)nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, ^(B)“In Isaac your seed shall be called.” ⁸ That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but ^(C)the children of the promise are counted as the seed.

²² For it is written that Abraham had two sons: ^(A)the one by a bondwoman, ^(B)the other by a freewoman. ²³ But he who was of the bondwoman ^(C)was born according to the flesh, ^(D)and he of the freewoman through promise, ²⁴ which things are symbolic. For these are ^[a]the two covenants: the one from Mount ^(E)Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar— ²⁵ for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children— ²⁶ but the ^(F)Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all. ²⁷ For it is written:

²⁸ Now ^(H)we, brethren, as Isaac was, are ^(I)children of promise. ²⁹ But, as ^(J)he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, ^(K)even so it is now. ³⁰ Nevertheless what does ^(L)the Scripture say? ^(M)“Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for ^(N)the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.” ³¹ So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.

¹⁶ Therefore it is of faith that it might be ^(A)according to grace, ^(B)so that the promise might be ^[a]sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, ^(C)who is the father of us all ¹⁷ (as it is written, ^(D)“I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, ^(E)who gives life to the dead and calls those ^(F)things which do not exist as though they did; ¹⁸ who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, ^(G)“So shall your descendants be.” ¹⁹ And not being weak in faith, ^(H)he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), ^(I)and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. ²⁰ He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, ²¹ and being fully convinced that what He had promised ^(J)He was also able to perform.

¹⁷ and if children, then ^(A)heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, ^(B)if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

⁷ that having been justified by His grace ^(A)we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

⁷ Therefore know that only ^(A)those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.

⁷ He who overcomes ^[a]shall inherit all things, and ^(A)I will be his God and he shall be My son.
