¹⁶ Now ^(A)the promises were made ^(B)to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, ^(C)“And to your offspring,” who is Christ.

⁷ And I will ^(A)establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, ^(B)to be God to you and to your offspring after you. ⁸ And ^(C)I will give to you and to your offspring after you the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession, and ^(D)I will be their God.”

The Promise Realized Through Faith

¹³ For ^(A)the promise to Abraham and his offspring ^(B)that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.

²⁷ For as many of you as ^(A)were baptized ^(B)into Christ have ^(C)put on Christ. ^28 (D)There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave^[a] nor free, ^(E)there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. ²⁹ And ^(F)if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, ^(G)heirs according to promise.

¹⁷ I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring ^(A)as the stars of heaven and ^(B)as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess ^(C)the gate of his^[a] enemies, ¹⁸ and ^(D)in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, ^(E)because you have obeyed my voice.”

¹⁶ That is why it depends on faith, ^(A)in order that the promise may rest on grace and ^(B)be guaranteed to all his offspring—not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, ^(C)who is the father of us all,

¹³ And behold, ^(A)the Lord stood above it^[a] and said, ^(B)“I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. ^(C)The land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring. ¹⁴ Your offspring shall be like ^(D)the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south, and in you and ^(E)your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

^3 (A)Sojourn in this land, and ^(B)I will be with you and will bless you, for ^(C)to you and to your offspring I will give all these lands, and I will establish ^(D)the oath that I swore to Abraham your father. ^4 (E)I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and will give to your offspring all these lands. And ^(F)in your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed,
