Amos 1:9-11
New American Standard Bible 1995
9 Thus says the Lord,
“For three transgressions of (A)Tyre and for four
I will not revoke its punishment,
Because they delivered up an entire population to Edom
And did not remember the covenant of [a](B)brotherhood.
10 “So I will (C)send fire upon the wall of Tyre
And it will consume her citadels.”
11 Thus says the Lord,
“For three transgressions of (D)Edom and for four
I will not revoke its punishment,
Because he (E)pursued his brother with the sword,
While he [b]stifled his compassion;
His anger also (F)tore continually,
And he maintained his fury forever.

And (B)cast lots for Jerusalem—
(C)You too were as one of them.
12 “(D)Do not [a]gloat over your brother’s day,

And (E)do not rejoice over the sons of Judah
In the day of their destruction;
Yes, (F)do not [b]boast
In the day of their distress.
13 “Do not enter the gate of My people
In the (G)day of their disaster.
Yes, you, do not [c]gloat over their calamity
In the day of their disaster.
And do not (H)loot their wealth
In the day of their disaster.
14 “Do not (I)stand at the fork of the road
To cut down their fugitives;
And do not imprison their survivors
In the day of their distress.
The Day of the Lord and the Future
15 “For the (J)day of the Lord draws near on all the nations.
(K)As you have done, it will be done to you.
Your (L)dealings will return on your own head.
16 “Because just as you (M)drank on (N)My holy mountain,
All the nations (O)will drink continually.
They will drink and [d]swallow
And become as if they had never existed.
