30 “But as for you, son of man, your people[a] (who are talking about you by the walls and at the doors of the houses) say to one another,[b] ‘Come hear the word that comes[c] from the Lord.’ 31 They come to you in crowds,[d] and they sit in front of you as[e] my people. They hear your words, but do not obey[f] them. For they talk lustfully,[g] and their heart is set on[h] their own advantage.[i] 32 Realize[j] that to them you are like a sensual song, a beautiful voice and skilled musician.[k] They hear your words, but they do not obey them.[l] 33 When all this comes true—and it certainly will[m]—then they will know that a prophet was among them.”

  13. Ezekiel 33:33 tn Heb “behold, it is coming.”

30 “But as for you, son of man, the sons of your people who talk about you by the walls and in the doorways of the houses, speak to one another, each to his brother, saying, ‘(A)Come now and hear what the word is which comes forth from Yahweh.’ 31 They come to you as people come and sit before you as My people and hear your words, but they do not do them, for they do the lustful desires expressed by their (B)mouth, and their heart goes after their (C)greedy gain. 32 Behold, you are to them like a lustful song by one who has a (D)beautiful voice and plays well on an instrument; for they hear your words but they do not do them. 33 So when it (E)comes to pass—behold, it is coming—then they will know that a prophet has been in their midst.”
