Ezekiel 33:23-26

²³The word of the Lord came to me: ²⁴^(A)“Son of man, the inhabitants of these ^(B)waste places in the land of Israel keep saying, ^(C)‘Abraham was only one man, yet he got possession of the land; but ^(D)we are many; the land is surely given us to possess.’ ²⁵Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord God: ^(E)You eat flesh with the blood and ^(F)lift up your eyes to your idols and ^(G)shed blood; shall you then possess the land? ²⁶^(H)You rely on the sword, ^(I)you commit abominations, and ^(J)each of you defiles his neighbor's wife; shall you then possess the land?

²³Then the word of the Lord came to me: ²⁴“Son of man, those who live in the^[a] ruins in the land of Israel are saying, ‘Abraham was only one person,^(A) yet he received possession of the land.^(B) But we are many; the land has been given to us as a possession.’^(C) ²⁵Therefore say to them: This is what the Lord God says: You eat meat with blood in it,^(D) raise your eyes to your idols, and shed blood. Should you then receive possession of the land? ²⁶You have relied on your swords, you have committed detestable acts, and each of you has defiled his neighbor’s wife. Should you then receive possession of the land?^(E)
