Utter a parable to the rebellious house, and tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says,

“Put the cauldron on the fire.
    Put it on,
and also pour water into it.
Gather its pieces into it,
    even every good piece:
    the thigh and the shoulder.
Fill it with the choice bones.
Take the choice of the flock,
and also a pile of wood for the bones under the cauldron.
Make it boil well.
Yes, let its bones be boiled within it.”

“‘Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:

“Woe to the bloody city,
to the cauldron whose rust is in it,
and whose rust hasn’t gone out of it!
Take out of it piece after piece.
No lot is fallen on it.

“‘“For her blood is in the middle of her.
She set it on the bare rock.
She didn’t pour it on the ground,
    to cover it with dust.
That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance,
I have set her blood on the bare rock,
that it should not be covered.”

“‘Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:

“Woe to the bloody city!
I also will make the pile great.
10 Heap on the wood.
    Make the fire hot.
Boil the meat well.
    Make the broth thick,
and let the bones be burned.
11 Then set it empty on its coals,
    that it may be hot,
and its bronze may burn,
and that its filthiness may be molten in it,
that its rust may be consumed.
12 She is weary with toil;
    yet her great rust,
rust by fire, doesn’t leave her.

13 “‘“In your filthiness is lewdness. Because I have cleansed you and you weren’t cleansed, you won’t be cleansed from your filthiness any more, until I have caused my wrath toward you to rest.

14 I, Yahweh, have spoken it. It will happen, and I will do it. I won’t go back. I won’t spare. I won’t repent. According to your ways, and according to your doings, they will judge you,” says the Lord Yahweh.’”

And deliver a proverb[a] to the rebellious house,[b] and you must say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “Place the pot! Place it and also pour water into it. Gather its pieces to it, every good piece, thigh and shoulder, fill it with choice bones; take the choicest of the flock, and also pile the bones[c] under it; boil it vigorously;[d] indeed,[e] its bones boiled in the midst of it.”’”

Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: “Woe to the city of bloodguilt! A pot that has its rust in it; its rust did not go out from it.[f] Bring it out piece by piece;[g] one is as good as another.[h] For her blood was in the midst of her; she put it on a bare rock;[i] she did not pour it on the ground to cover it with dust.[j] To stir up rage, to avenge myself through vengeance, I placed its blood on the barrenness of a rock, so that it may not be covered.”[k]

Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: “Woe to the city of bloodguilt! I, even I, will make the pile of wood great! 10 Pile up the logs; kindle the fire; finish cooking the meat, and mix in the spices, and let the bones be burned.[l] 11 And make it stand[m] empty upon its burning coals so that it may become hot, and its copper may become molten and be melted in the midst of it,[n] so that its uncleanness and its rust be consumed. 12 Through effort she has caused weariness; its thick rust[o] went not out of it. Its rust! Into the fire with its rust! 13 In your uncleanness is obscene conduct, because I cleansed you, but you were not clean from your uncleanness; you will not be clean again until I fully vent my rage[p] on you. 14 I, Yahweh, I have spoken. It is coming, and I did it; I will not disregard, and I will not take pity, and I will not reconsider. According to your ways and according to your deeds they will judge you!”[q] declares[r] the Lord Yahweh.
