⁹ But if you do warn the wicked person to turn from their ways and they do not do so,^(A) they will die for their sin, though you yourself will be saved.^(B)

¹⁹ But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn^(A) from their wickedness^(B) or from their evil ways, they will die^(C) for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.^(D)

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first.^(A) Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.^(B)

⁴⁰ Take care that what the prophets have said does not happen to you:

²¹ But if you do warn the righteous person not to sin and they do not sin, they will surely live because they took warning, and you will have saved yourself.^(A)”

²⁵ See to it that you do not refuse^(A) him who speaks.^(B) If they did not escape when they refused him who warned^(C) them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven?^(D)

³ how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation?^(A) This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord,^(B) was confirmed to us by those who heard him.^(C)

¹⁴ And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle^(A) and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak,^(B) be patient with everyone.

³ It is God’s will^(A) that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;^{(B) 4} that each of you should learn to control your own body^[a](C) in a way that is holy and honorable, ⁵ not in passionate lust^(D) like the pagans,^(E) who do not know God;^{(F) 6} and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister.^[b](G) The Lord will punish^(H) all those who commit such sins,^(I) as we told you and warned you before. ⁷ For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.^{(J) 8} Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.^(K)
