⁶¹ Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed^(A) when you receive your sisters, both those who are older than you and those who are younger. I will give them to you as daughters,^(B) but not on the basis of my covenant with you.

¹³ By calling this covenant “new,”^(A) he has made the first one obsolete;^(B) and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

²⁶ But the Jerusalem that is above^(A) is free, and she is our mother. ²⁷ For it is written:

²⁸ Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise.^{(C) 29} At that time the son born according to the flesh^(D) persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit.^(E) It is the same now. ³⁰ But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.”^{[b](F) 31} Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman,^(G) but of the free woman.^(H)

⁶ This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs^(A) together with Israel, members together of one body,^(B) and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.^(C)

¹⁶ to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles.^(A) He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God,^(B) so that the Gentiles might become an offering^(C) acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

Ingrafted Branches

¹¹ Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all!^(A) Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles^(B) to make Israel envious.^(C)

⁴³ There you will remember your conduct^(A) and all the actions by which you have defiled yourselves, and you will loathe yourselves^(B) for all the evil you have done.^(C)
