¹⁰ Precisely because they have misled my people, ^(A)saying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace, and because, when the people build a wall, ^(B)these prophets smear it with whitewash,^[a]

²⁸ And ^(A)her prophets have smeared whitewash for them, ^(B)seeing false visions and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ when the Lord has not spoken.

¹⁶ the prophets of Israel who prophesied concerning Jerusalem ^(A)and saw visions of peace for her, when there was no peace, declares the Lord God.

Lying Prophets

¹³ Then I said: “Ah, Lord God, behold, the prophets ^(A)say to them, ‘You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place.’”

⁹ But they did not listen, and Manasseh led them astray to do more evil than the nations had done whom the Lord destroyed before the people of Israel.

²⁰ But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman ^(A)Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants ^(B)to practice sexual immorality and ^(C)to eat food sacrificed to idols.

²⁶ I write these things to you about ^(A)those who are trying to deceive you.

¹³ while ^(A)evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and ^(B)being deceived.
