¹⁹ While I watched, the cherubim spread their wings and rose from the ground, and as they went, the wheels went with them.^(A) They stopped at the entrance of the east gate of the Lord’s house, and the glory^(B) of the God of Israel was above them.

⁴ The glory^(A) of the Lord entered the temple through the gate facing east.^(B)

²² Then the cherubim, with the wheels beside them, spread their wings, and the glory^(A) of the God of Israel was above them.^{(B) 23} The glory^(C) of the Lord went up from within the city and stopped above the mountain^(D) east of it.

God’s Sure Judgment on Jerusalem

11 Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the gate of the house of the Lord that faces east. There at the entrance of the gate were twenty-five men, and I saw among them Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah^(A) son of Benaiah, leaders^(B) of the people.^(C)

God’s Glory Departs From the Temple

10 I looked, and I saw the likeness of a throne^(A) of lapis lazuli^(B) above the vault^(C) that was over the heads of the cherubim.^(D)

¹⁶ He then brought me into the inner court^(A) of the house of the Lord, and there at the entrance to the temple, between the portico and the altar,^(B) were about twenty-five men. With their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, they were bowing down to the sun^(C) in the east.^(D)

²⁶ Above the vault over their heads was what looked like a throne^(A) of lapis lazuli,^(B) and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man.^{(C) 27} I saw that from what appeared to be his waist up he looked like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and that from there down he looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded him.^{(D) 28} Like the appearance of a rainbow^(E) in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him.^(F)

This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory^(G) of the Lord. When I saw it, I fell facedown,^(H) and I heard the voice of one speaking.

¹⁷ As they moved, they would go in any one of the four directions the creatures faced; the wheels did not change direction^(A) as the creatures went. ¹⁸ Their rims were high and awesome, and all four rims were full of eyes^(B) all around.

¹⁹ When the living creatures moved, the wheels beside them moved; and when the living creatures rose from the ground, the wheels also rose. ²⁰ Wherever the spirit would go, they would go,^(C) and the wheels would rise along with them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels. ²¹ When the creatures moved, they also moved; when the creatures stood still, they also stood still; and when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels rose along with them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.^(D)
