40 In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth of the month, in the fourteenth year after the fall of the city^(A)—on that very day the hand of the Lord was on me^(B) and he took me there.

Only the poorest^(H) people of the land were left.

¹⁵ Nebuchadnezzar took Jehoiachin^(I) captive to Babylon. He also took from Jerusalem to Babylon the king’s mother,^(J) his wives, his officials and the prominent people^(K) of the land.
