⁹ Now let them put away their idolatry and sacrifices to their kings^[a] far from me, and I will reside among them forever.^(A)

⁷ He said to me: “Mortal, this is the place of my throne and the place for the soles of my feet, where I will reside among the people of Israel forever. The house of Israel shall no more defile my holy name, neither they nor their kings, by their prostitution and by sacrificing to their kings^[a] at their death.^[b](A)

⁵ Put to death, therefore, whatever in you is earthly: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry).^{(A) 6} On account of these the wrath of God is coming on those who are disobedient.^{[a](B) 7} These are the ways you also once followed, when you were living that life.^{[b] 8} But now you must get rid of all such things: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive^[c] language from your mouth.^{(C) 9} Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have stripped off the old self with its practices

²⁶ I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them, and I will bless^[a] them and multiply them and will set my sanctuary among them forevermore.^{(A) 27} My dwelling place shall be over them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.^{(B) 28} Then the nations shall know that I the Lord sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary is among them forevermore.”^(C)

³⁰ Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, all of you according to your ways, says the Lord God. Repent and turn from all your transgressions; otherwise iniquity will be your ruin.^{[a](A) 31} Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed against me, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel?^(B)
