¹⁷ “You shall not make cast idols.^(A)

²⁸ So the king took counsel and made two calves of gold. He said to the people,^[a] “You have gone up to Jerusalem long enough. Here are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.”^(A)

¹⁵ and had appointed his own priests for the high places and for the goat-demons and for the calves that he had made.^(A)

³⁵ Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have forgotten me and cast me behind your back, therefore bear the consequences of your lewdness and prostitutions.^(A)
