Making the Altar of Incense

^25 (A)He made the altar of incense of acacia wood. Its length was a cubit, and its breadth was a cubit. It was square, and two cubits was its height. Its horns were of one piece with it.

The Altar of Incense

30 ^(A)“You shall make ^(B)an altar on which to burn incense; you shall make it of acacia wood. ² A cubit^[a] shall be its length, and a cubit its breadth. It shall be square, and two cubits shall be its height. ^(C)Its horns shall be of one piece with it. ³ You shall ^(D)overlay it with pure gold, its top and around its sides and its horns. And you shall make a molding of gold around it. ⁴ And you shall make two golden rings for it. Under its molding on two opposite sides of it you shall make them, and they shall be ^(E)holders for poles with which to carry it. ⁵ You shall make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.

³ And another angel came and stood ^(A)at the altar with a golden censer, and he was given much incense to offer with ^(B)the prayers of all the saints on ^(C)the golden altar before the throne, ⁴ and ^(D)the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose before God from the hand of the angel.

^5 (A)you yourselves like living stones are being built up as ^(B)a spiritual house, to be ^(C)a holy priesthood, ^(D)to offer spiritual sacrifices ^(E)acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

²⁵ Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost^{[a] (A)}those who draw near to God ^(B)through him, since he always lives ^(C)to make intercession for them.

¹⁰ We have an altar ^(A)from which those who serve the tent^[a] have no right to eat.

⁹ according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot ^(A)to enter ^(B)the temple of the Lord and burn incense. ¹⁰ And the whole multitude of the people ^(C)were praying ^(D)outside at the hour of incense.

¹⁶ But when ^(A)he was strong, ^(B)he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was unfaithful to the Lord his God and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.
