The Radiant Face of Moses

²⁹ When Moses came down from Mount Sinai^(A) with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands,^(B) he was not aware that his face was radiant^(C) because he had spoken with the Lord.

² There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.

²⁹ As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.

¹⁵ Moses turned and went down the mountain with the two tablets of the covenant law^(A) in his hands.^(B) They were inscribed^(C) on both sides, front and back.

¹⁶ In his right hand he held seven stars,^(A) and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword.^(B) His face was like the sun^(C) shining in all its brilliance.

¹³ We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face^(A) to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away.

The Greater Glory of the New Covenant

⁷ Now if the ministry that brought death,^(A) which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory,^(B) transitory though it was, ⁸ will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? ⁹ If the ministry that brought condemnation^(C) was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness!^(D)

The Angel and the Little Scroll

10 Then I saw another mighty angel^(A) coming down from heaven.^(B) He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow^(C) above his head; his face was like the sun,^(D) and his legs were like fiery pillars.^(E)

¹⁵ All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin^(A) looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

¹³ The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there.
