¹⁴ for you shall worship no other god, because the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.^(A)

²⁴ For the Lord your God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.^(A)

The Consuming Wrath of God

²² Or are we provoking the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?^(A)

²⁰ the Lord will be unwilling to pardon them, for then the Lord’s anger and passion will smoke against them. All the curses written in this book will descend on them, and the Lord will blot out their names from under heaven.^(A)

¹⁵ because the Lord your God, who is present with you, is a jealous God. The anger of the Lord your God would be kindled against you and he would destroy you from the face of the earth.^(A)

¹⁰ Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! for it is written,

³ you shall have no other gods before^[a] me.^(A)

⁴ “You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above or that is on the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth.^{(B) 5} You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me^(C)

¹⁹ But Joshua said to the people, “You cannot serve the Lord, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions or your sins.^(A)
