¹⁴ All who cross over, those twenty years old or more,^(A) are to give an offering to the Lord.

¹¹ ‘Because they have not followed me wholeheartedly, not one of those who were twenty years old or more^(A) when they came up out of Egypt^(B) will see the land I promised on oath^(C) to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob^(D)—

² “Take a census^(A) of the whole Israelite community by families—all those twenty years old or more who are able to serve in the army^(B) of Israel.”

²⁹ In this wilderness your bodies will fall^(A)—every one of you twenty years old or more^(B) who was counted in the census^(C) and who has grumbled against me.

¹⁸ and they called the whole community together on the first day of the second month.^(A) The people registered their ancestry^(B) by their clans and families,^(C) and the men twenty years old or more^(D) were listed by name, one by one,
