The Altar of Incense^(A)

30 “Make an altar^(B) of acacia wood for burning incense.^(C)

³ Another angel,^(A) who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people,^(B) on the golden altar^(C) in front of the throne.

The Altar of Incense^(A)

²⁵ They made the altar of incense^(B) out of acacia wood. It was square, a cubit long and a cubit wide and two cubits high^[a]—its horns^(C) of one piece with it. ²⁶ They overlaid the top and all the sides and the horns with pure gold, and made a gold molding around it. ²⁷ They made two gold rings^(D) below the molding—two on each of the opposite sides—to hold the poles used to carry it. ²⁸ They made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold.^(E)

⁷ The priest shall then put some of the blood on the horns^(A) of the altar of fragrant incense that is before the Lord in the tent of meeting. The rest of the bull’s blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar^(B) of burnt offering^(C) at the entrance to the tent of meeting.

⁵ Place the gold altar^(A) of incense in front of the ark of the covenant law and put the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle.

¹⁶ But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride^(A) led to his downfall.^(B) He was unfaithful^(C) to the Lord his God, and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense^(D) on the altar of incense.

²⁰ The inner sanctuary^(A) was twenty cubits long, twenty wide and twenty high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold, and he also overlaid the altar of cedar.^(B)

¹⁸ He is to put some of the blood^(A) on the horns of the altar that is before the Lord^(B) in the tent of meeting. The rest of the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar^(C) of burnt offering at the entrance to the tent of meeting.

¹⁰ Once a year^(A) Aaron shall make atonement^(B) on its horns. This annual atonement must be made with the blood of the atoning sin offering^[a](C) for the generations to come.^(D) It is most holy to the Lord.”
