³⁶ “Make a plate^(A) of pure gold and engrave on it as on a seal: holy to the Lord.^(B)

²⁰ On that day holy to the Lord^(A) will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, and the cooking pots^(B) in the Lord’s house will be like the sacred bowls^(C) in front of the altar.

⁹ Then he placed the turban^(A) on Aaron’s head and set the gold plate, the sacred emblem,^(B) on the front of it, as the Lord commanded Moses.^(C)

³⁰ They made the plate, the sacred emblem, out of pure gold and engraved on it, like an inscription on a seal: holy to the Lord.^(A)

²⁷ Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful,^(A) but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.^(B)

⁹ But you are a chosen people,^(A) a royal priesthood,^(B) a holy nation,^(C) God’s special possession,^(D) that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.^(E)

¹⁵ But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;^{(A) 16} for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”^[a](B)

Warning and Encouragement

¹⁴ Make every effort to live in peace with everyone^(A) and to be holy;^(B) without holiness no one will see the Lord.^(C)

²⁶ Such a high priest^(A) truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners,^(B) exalted above the heavens.^(C)
