²¹ Then Moses called all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Go and select lambs for yourselves ^(A)according to your clans, and kill the Passover lamb.

³ Tell all the congregation of Israel that on the tenth day of this month every man shall take a lamb ^(A)according to their fathers' houses, a lamb for a household.

The Passover with the Disciples

^12 (A)And on ^(B)the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they ^(C)sacrificed the Passover lamb, his disciples said to him, “Where will you have us go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?” ¹³ And he sent ^(D)two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him, ¹⁴ and wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, ^(E)‘The Teacher says, Where is ^(F)my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ ¹⁵ And he will show you ^(G)a large upper room furnished and ready; there prepare for us.” ¹⁶ And the disciples set out and went to the city and found it just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

⁴ and ^(A)all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ.

The Passover with the Disciples

^7 (A)Then came ^(B)the day of Unleavened Bread, on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. ⁸ So Jesus^[a] sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat it.” ⁹ They said to him, “Where will you have us prepare it?” ¹⁰ He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him into the house that he enters ¹¹ and tell the master of the house, ^(C)‘The Teacher says to you, Where is ^(D)the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ ¹² And he will show you ^(E)a large upper room furnished; prepare it there.” ¹³ And they went and found it ^(F)just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

^20 (A)For the priests and the Levites had purified themselves together; all of them were clean. ^(B)So they slaughtered the Passover lamb for all the returned exiles, for their fellow priests, and for themselves.

⁵ And ^(A)stand in the Holy Place ^(B)according to the groupings of the fathers' houses of your brothers the lay people, and according to the division of the Levites by fathers' household. ⁶ And slaughter the Passover lamb, and ^(C)consecrate yourselves, and prepare for your brothers, to do according to the word of the Lord by^[a] Moses.”

^15 (A)And they slaughtered the Passover lamb on the fourteenth day of the second month. ^(B)And the priests and the Levites were ashamed, ^(C)so that they consecrated themselves and brought burnt offerings into the house of the Lord. ^16 (D)They took their accustomed posts according to the Law of Moses ^(E)the man of God. The priests threw the blood that they received from the hand of the Levites. ¹⁷ For there were many in the assembly who had not consecrated themselves. Therefore the Levites had to slaughter the Passover lamb for everyone who was not clean, to consecrate it to the Lord.

Josiah Restores the Passover

²¹ And the king commanded all the people, ^(A)“Keep the Passover to the Lord your God, ^(B)as it is written in this Book of the Covenant.”
