12 Because we are not wrestling against basar vadahm (flesh and blood), but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of the choshech of the Olam Hazeh, against the kokhot ruchaniyim ra’im (evil spiritual forces) in Shomayim.

13 Therefore, take up the whole armor of Hashem, that you may be able to withstand in the Yom HaRah and, having done all, to stand.

14 Stand, therefore, having girded your waist with HaEmes and having put on the breastplate of Tzedek, [YESHAYAH 11:5; TEHILLIM 132:9; YESHAYAH 59:17]

15 And having put as shoes on your feet that which makes you ready to be a maggid of the Besuras HaGeulah. [YESHAYAH 52:7]

16 With all these things, take up the shield of emunah, by which you will be able to quench all the flaming darts of haRah (the Evil one);

17 And take the helmet of yeshu’ah and the cherev of the Ruach Hakodesh, which is the Dvar Hashem. [YESHAYAH 59:17; 49:2]

18 Daven in the Ruach Hakodesh always with all tefillos and techinnah (supplication). To that end keep shomer and always persevere in techinnah (supplication) for the Kadoshim;

19 And for me also, that to me may be given utterance in opening my mouth in boldness to make known the Sod HaBesuras HaGeulah,

20 On behalf of which I am an emissary in chains, that in it I may be bold as it is necessary for me to speak.

12 For we are not struggling against human beings, but against the rulers, authorities and cosmic powers governing this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm. 13 So take up every piece of war equipment God provides; so that when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist; and when the battle is won, you will still be standing. 14 Therefore, stand! Have the belt of truth buckled around your waist,[a] put on righteousness for a breastplate,[b] 15 and wear on your feet the readiness that comes from the Good News of shalom.[c] 16 Always carry the shield of trust, with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the Evil One. 17 And take the helmet of deliverance;[d] along with the sword given by the Spirit, that is, the Word of God; 18 as you pray at all times, with all kinds of prayers and requests, in the Spirit, vigilantly and persistently, for all God’s people.

19 And pray for me, too, that whenever I open my mouth, the words will be given to me to be bold in making known the secret of the Good News, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may speak boldly, the way I should.

12 For our battle is not against flesh(A) and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,(B) against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil(C) in the heavens.(D) 13 This is why you must take up the full armor(E) of God, so that you may be able to resist(F) in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. 14 Stand,(G) therefore,

with truth(H) like a belt around your waist,
righteousness(I) like armor on your chest,(J)
15 and your feet sandaled with readiness
for the gospel of peace.[a]
16 In every situation take the shield(K) of faith,(L)
and with it you will be able to extinguish
all the flaming arrows of the evil one.(M)
17 Take the helmet(N) of salvation,
and the sword(O) of the Spirit,(P)
which is God’s word.

18 Pray(Q) at all times in the Spirit(R) with every prayer and request, and stay alert(S) in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints. 19 Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness(T) the mystery of the gospel. 20 For this I am an ambassador(U) in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough in Him to speak as I should.
