¹¹ And ^(A)he gave the ^(B)apostles, the prophets, the ^(C)evangelists, the ^(D)shepherds^[a] and teachers,^[b]

¹⁵ “‘And ^(A)I will give you shepherds after my own heart, ^(B)who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

²⁸ And ^(A)God has appointed in the church first ^(B)apostles, second ^(C)prophets, third teachers, then ^(D)miracles, then ^(E)gifts of healing, ^(F)helping, ^(G)administrating, and ^(H)various kinds of tongues. ²⁹ Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?

^20 (A)built on the foundation of the ^(B)apostles and prophets, ^(C)Christ Jesus himself being ^(D)the cornerstone,

⁵ As for you, ^(A)always be sober-minded, ^(B)endure suffering, do the work of ^(C)an evangelist, ^(D)fulfill your ministry.

²⁰ teaching them ^(A)to observe all that ^(B)I have commanded you. And behold, ^(C)I am with you always, to ^(D)the end of the age.”

¹⁴ How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him ^(A)of whom they have never heard?^[a] And how are they to hear ^(B)without someone preaching? ¹⁵ And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ^(C)“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

^28 (A)Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all ^(B)the flock, in which ^(C)the Holy Spirit has made you ^(D)overseers, ^(E)to care for ^(F)the church of God,^[a] which he ^(G)obtained ^(H)with his own blood.^[b]
