¹⁵ But there was found in it ^(A)a poor, wise man, and he by his ^(B)wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that poor man.

¹³ Better was ^(A)a poor and wise youth than an old and foolish king who no longer knew how ^(B)to take advice.

²³ Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.

² And it was found written how ^(A)Mordecai had told about ^(B)Bigthana^[a] and ^(C)Teresh, two of the king's eunuchs, who guarded the threshold, and who had sought to lay hands on King Ahasuerus. ³ And the king said, “What honor or distinction has been bestowed on Mordecai for this?” The king's young men who attended him said, “Nothing has been done for him.”

¹⁶ For of the wise as of the fool there is ^(A)no enduring remembrance, seeing that in the days to come all will have been long forgotten. ^(B)How the wise dies just like the fool!

²² Then the woman went to all the people ^(A)in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri and threw it out to Joab. So he blew the trumpet, and they dispersed from the city, ^(B)every man to his home. And Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.
