Israel Resists the Holy Spirit

⁵¹ “You ^(A)stiff-necked^[a] and ^(B)uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.

^26 (A)And as it ^(B)was in the ^(C)days of ^(D)Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: ²⁷ They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the ^(E)day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and ^(F)destroyed them all. ^28 (G)Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; ²⁹ but on ^(H)the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. ³⁰ Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man ^(I)is revealed.

³⁰ and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’

³¹ “Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves that ^(A)you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. ^32 (B)Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers’ guilt.

^12 (A)Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for ^(B)so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

^8 (A)Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: ^(B)men of corrupt minds, ^(C)disapproved concerning the faith;

¹⁴ For you, brethren, became imitators ^(A)of the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus. For ^(B)you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, just as they did from the Judeans, ^15 (C)who killed both the Lord Jesus and ^(D)their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God ^(E)and are ^[a]contrary to all men, ^16 (F)forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, so as always ^(G)to fill up the measure of their sins; ^(H)but wrath has come upon them to the uttermost.
