Deuteronomy 28:39
New International Version
39 You will plant vineyards and cultivate them but you will not drink the wine(A) or gather the grapes, because worms will eat(B) them.(C)
Deuteronomy 28:51
New International Version
51 They will devour the young of your livestock and the crops of your land until you are destroyed. They will leave you no grain, new wine(A) or olive oil,(B) nor any calves of your herds or lambs of your flocks until you are ruined.(C)
Isaiah 62:8
New International Version
Hosea 2:8-9
New International Version
Joel 1:5-17
New International Version
5 Wake up, you drunkards, and weep!
Wail, all you drinkers of wine;(A)
wail because of the new wine,
for it has been snatched(B) from your lips.
6 A nation has invaded my land,
a mighty army without number;(C)
it has the teeth(D) of a lion,
the fangs of a lioness.
7 It has laid waste(E) my vines
and ruined my fig trees.(F)
It has stripped off their bark
and thrown it away,
leaving their branches white.
8 Mourn like a virgin in sackcloth(G)
grieving for the betrothed of her youth.
9 Grain offerings and drink offerings(H)
are cut off from the house of the Lord.
The priests are in mourning,(I)
those who minister before the Lord.
10 The fields are ruined,
the ground is dried up;(J)
the grain is destroyed,
the new wine(K) is dried up,
the olive oil fails.(L)
11 Despair, you farmers,(M)
wail, you vine growers;
grieve for the wheat and the barley,(N)
because the harvest of the field is destroyed.(O)
12 The vine is dried up
and the fig tree is withered;(P)
the pomegranate,(Q) the palm and the apple[a] tree—
all the trees of the field—are dried up.(R)
Surely the people’s joy
is withered away.
A Call to Lamentation
13 Put on sackcloth,(S) you priests, and mourn;
wail, you who minister(T) before the altar.
Come, spend the night in sackcloth,
you who minister before my God;
for the grain offerings and drink offerings(U)
are withheld from the house of your God.
14 Declare a holy fast;(V)
call a sacred assembly.
Summon the elders
and all who live in the land(W)
to the house of the Lord your God,
and cry out(X) to the Lord.(Y)
Micah 6:13-15
New International Version
13 Therefore, I have begun to destroy(A) you,
to ruin[a] you because of your sins.
14 You will eat but not be satisfied;(B)
your stomach will still be empty.[b]
You will store up but save nothing,(C)
because what you save[c] I will give to the sword.
15 You will plant but not harvest;(D)
you will press olives but not use the oil,
you will crush grapes but not drink the wine.(E)
