Division of the Land

12 This is the land which we possessed at that time from Aroer, which is by the River Arnon, and half the hill country of Gilead and its cities I gave to the Reubenites and to the Gadites. 13 The rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh. (All the region of Argob, with all Bashan, was called the land of giants. 14 Jair, the son of Manasseh, took all the region of Argob, that is, Bashan, as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maakathites, and called the villages after his own name, Havvoth Jair, as it is to this day.) 15 I gave Gilead to Makir. 16 To the Reubenites and to the Gadites I gave the territory from Gilead even as far as the stream bed of the River Arnon, half the valley as the border to the River Jabbok, which is the border of the Ammonites; 17 the plain also, with the Jordan as the border, from Kinnereth as far as the east side of the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea), below the slopes of Pisgah.

All of that area of Bashan was called the land of the Rephaim. 14 Jair the descendant[d] of Manasseh acquired the whole region of Argob, up to the boundary of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and he called it,[e] that is Bashan, after his own name, Havvoth Jair, as it still is today.[f] 15 And also I gave Gilead to Makir. 16 And to the Reubenites[g] and to the Gadites[h] I gave, from Gilead up to the wadi[i] of Arnon, the middle of the wadi[j] as a boundary and up to the Jabbok River,[k] the boundary of the Ammonites.[l] 17 And the Jordan Valley[m] with the Jordan River as its boundary, from Kinnereth[n] up to the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea,[o] with the slopes of Pisgah toward the east.
