Yahweh Will Raise Up a Prophet

15 “(A)Yahweh your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers; you shall listen to him. 16 This is (B)according to all that you asked of Yahweh your God in Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of Yahweh my God; let me not see this great fire anymore, or I will die.’ 17 (C)And Yahweh said to me, ‘They have [a]spoken well. 18 I will raise up a prophet from among their brothers like you, and (D)I will put My words in his mouth, and (E)he shall speak to them all that I command him. 19 (F)And it will be that whoever will not listen to My words which he shall speak in My name, I Myself will require it of him.

You must listen to him. 16 For this is what you yourselves requested of the Lord your God when you were assembled at Mount Sinai.[a] You said, ‘Don’t let us hear the voice of the Lord our God anymore or see this blazing fire, for we will die.’

17 “Then the Lord said to me, ‘What they have said is right. 18 I will raise up a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites. I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell the people everything I command him. 19 I will personally deal with anyone who will not listen to the messages the prophet proclaims on my behalf.
