^4 (A)“Hear, O Israel: ^[a]The Lord our God, the Lord is one! ^5 (B)You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, ^(C)with all your soul, and with all your strength.

⁶ “And ^(D)these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. ^7 (E)You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

³⁷ Jesus said to him, ^(A)“‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ ³⁸ This is the first and great commandment. ³⁹ And the second is like it: ^(B)‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ^40 (C)On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

²⁷ So he answered and said, ^(A)“ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ^(B)‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ”
