^14 (A)Let Me alone, that I may destroy them and ^(B)blot out their name from under heaven; ^(C)and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.’

^20 (A)“The Lord would not spare him; for then ^(B)the anger of the Lord and ^(C)His jealousy would burn against that man, and every curse that is written in this book would settle on him, and the Lord ^(D)would blot out his name from under heaven.

¹⁰ Now therefore, ^(A)let Me alone, that ^(B)My wrath may burn hot against them and I may ^[a]consume them. And ^(C)I will make of you a great nation.”

^11 (D)Then Moses pleaded with ^[b]the Lord his God, and said: “Lord, why does Your wrath burn hot against Your people whom You have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? ^12 (E)Why should the Egyptians speak, and say, ‘He brought them out to harm them, to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from Your fierce wrath, and ^(F)relent from this harm to Your people. ¹³ Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants, to whom You ^(G)swore by Your own self, and said to them, ^(H)‘I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven; and all this land that I have spoken of I give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.’ ”

⁵ He who overcomes ^(A)shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not ^(B)blot out his name from the ^(C)Book of Life; but ^(D)I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

Israel Resists the Holy Spirit

⁵¹ “You ^(A)stiff-necked^[a] and ^(B)uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.

The Parable of the Persistent Widow

18 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men ^(A)always ought to pray and not lose heart, ² saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor ^[a]regard man. ³ Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ^[b]‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ ⁴ And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, ^5 (B)yet because this widow troubles me I will ^[c]avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’ ”

⁶ Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. ⁷ And ^(C)shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? ⁸ I tell you ^(D)that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”

⁷ and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? ⁸ I say to you, ^(A)though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.

^9 (C)“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; ^(D)seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. ¹⁰ For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
