⁶⁴ “Then the Lord ^(A)will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other, and ^(B)there you shall serve other gods, which neither you nor your fathers have known—wood and stone.

⁷ They shall no more offer their sacrifices ^(A)to ^[a]demons, after whom they ^(B)have played the harlot. This shall be a statute forever for them throughout their generations.” ’

²⁰ But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, ^(A)did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship ^(B)demons, ^(C)and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk.

The Great Apostasy

4 Now the Spirit ^[a]expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed ^(A)to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,

¹⁹ What am I saying then? ^(A)That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything? ²⁰ Rather, that the things which the Gentiles ^(B)sacrifice ^(C)they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons.

⁴ Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that ^(A)an idol is nothing in the world, ^(B)and that there is no other God but one.
