^45 (A)“All these curses shall come upon you and pursue you and overtake you till you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes that he commanded you.

Curses for Disobedience

¹⁵ “But ^(A)if you will not obey the voice of the Lord your God or be careful to do all his commandments and his statutes that I command you today, then all these curses shall come upon you and ^(B)overtake you.

²¹ “For thus says the Lord God: How much more ^(A)when I send upon Jerusalem my four disastrous acts of judgment, ^(B)sword, ^(C)famine, ^(D)wild beasts, and ^(E)pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast!

^15 (A)The sword is without; pestilence and famine are within. ^(B)He who is in the field dies by the sword, ^(C)and him who is in the city famine and pestilence devour.

⁹ I will make them ^(A)a horror^[a] to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be ^(B)a reproach, ^(C)a byword, ^(D)a taunt, and ^(E)a curse in all the places where I shall drive them. ¹⁰ And I will send ^(F)sword, famine, and pestilence upon them, until they shall be utterly destroyed from the land that I gave to them and their fathers.”

²² For in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, I did not speak to your fathers or command them ^(A)concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices. ²³ But this command I gave them: ^(B)‘Obey my voice, and ^(C)I will be your God, and you shall be my people. ^(D)And walk in all the way that I command you, ^(E)that it may be well with you.’ ^24 (F)But they did not obey or incline their ear, ^(G)but walked in their own counsels and ^(H)the stubbornness of their evil hearts, and ^(I)went backward and not forward. ²⁵ From the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt to this day, ^(J)I have persistently sent all my servants the prophets to them, day after day.
