King Sihon Defeated^(A)

²⁶ “And I ^(B)sent messengers from the Wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon, ^(C)with words of peace, saying,

¹⁰ But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, ^11 (A)‘The very dust of your city which clings to ^[a]us we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near you.’ ^12 [b]But I say to you that ^(B)it will be more tolerable in that Day for Sodom than for that city.

^5 (A)But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ ⁶ And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on it; if not, it will return to you.

^18 (A)Jahaza, Kedemoth, Mephaath,

¹² And when you go into a household, greet it. ^13 (A)If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. ^(B)But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. ^14 (C)And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, ^(D)shake off the dust from your feet. ¹⁵ Assuredly, I say to you, ^(E)it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!

³⁷ Kedemoth with its common-land, and Mephaath with its common-land: four cities;

¹⁰ “When you go near a city to fight against it, ^(A)then proclaim an offer of peace to it. ¹¹ And it shall be that if they accept your offer of peace, and open to you, then all the people who are found in it shall be placed under tribute to you, and serve you.

³⁰ And Mordecai sent letters to all the Jews, to ^(A)the one hundred and twenty-seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with words of peace and truth,
