²¹ a strong and numerous people, as tall as the Anakim. But the Lord destroyed them from before the Ammonites^[a] so that they could dispossess them and settle in their place.^(A)

⁷ All the nations shall serve him and his son and his grandson, until the time of his own land comes; then many nations and great kings shall make him their slave.^(A)

⁸ But if any nation or kingdom will not serve this king, Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, and put its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, then I will punish that nation with the sword, with famine, and with pestilence, says the Lord, until I have completed its destruction by his hand.^(B)

²⁴ Should you not possess what your god Chemosh gives you to possess? And should we not be the ones to possess everything that the Lord our God has conquered for our benefit?^(A)

¹⁰ (The Emim—a large and numerous people, as tall as the Anakim—had formerly inhabited it.^{(A) 11} Like the Anakim, they are usually reckoned as Rephaim, though the Moabites call them Emim.

²⁸ Where are we headed? Our kindred have made our hearts melt by reporting, “The people are stronger and taller than we; the cities are large and fortified up to heaven! We actually saw there the offspring of the Anakim!” ’^(A)
