¹³ You must remain completely loyal to the Lord your God.

Noah Pleases God

⁹ These are the descendants of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God.^(A)

⁸ The Lord said to the accuser,^[a] “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man who fears God and turns away from evil.”^(A)

Job and His Family

1 There was once a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil.^(A)

² Wake up and strengthen what remains and is on the point of death, for I have not found your works perfect in the sight of my God.

¹⁵ Let those of us, then, who are mature^[a] think this way, and if you think differently about anything, this, too, God will reveal to you.^(A)

Pressing toward the Goal

¹² Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal,^[a] but I press on to lay hold of that for which Christ^[b] has laid hold of me.^(A)
