40 “And at the (A)end time the (B)king of the South will wage war with him, and the (C)king of the North will (D)storm against him with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he will enter countries, (E)overflow them, and pass through. 41 He will also enter the [a](F)Beautiful Land, and many countries will fall; but these will be rescued out of his hand: Edom, (G)Moab, and the foremost of the sons of (H)Ammon. 42 Then he will reach out with his hand against other countries, and the land of Egypt will not escape. 43 But he will [b]gain control over the hidden treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; and (I)Libyans and (J)Ethiopians will follow at his [c]heels. 44 But rumors from the East and from the North will terrify him, and he will go out with great wrath to eliminate and [d]annihilate many. 45 And he will pitch the tents of his royal pavilion between the seas and the beautiful (K)Holy Mountain; yet he will come to his end, and no one will help him.

40 “‘At the time of the end, the southern king will oppose him, and the northern king will overrun him with chariots, cavalry, and many ships. He’ll invade countries, moving swiftly and sweeping through. 41 He’ll enter the Beautiful Land, and many will fall, even though these will escape his control: Edom, Moab, and certain Ammonite officials.

42 He’ll extend his power over other countries, and even the land of Egypt won’t escape. 43 He’ll capture treasures of gold, silver, and all the treasures of Egypt, with the Libyans and Cushites[a] at his feet. 44 However, reports from the east and the north will alarm him, and he’ll march out in great anger, intending to destroy and to desolate many. 45 When he pitches his royal pavilions between the seas[b] facing the mountain of holy Glory, he’ll come to his end, and no one will help him.’”
