⁵ Then these men said, “We shall not find any ground for complaint against this Daniel unless we find it in connection with the law of his God.”

^13 (A)Neither can they prove to you what they now bring up against me. ¹⁴ But this I confess to you, that according to ^(B)the Way, which they call ^(C)a sect, ^(D)I worship ^(E)the God of our fathers, believing everything ^(F)laid down by the Law and written in the Prophets, ^15 (G)having ^(H)a hope in God, which these men themselves accept, that there will be ^(I)a resurrection ^(J)of both the just and the unjust. ¹⁶ So I always ^(K)take pains to have a ^(L)clear conscience toward both God and man.

²⁰ Or else let these men themselves say what wrongdoing they found when I stood before the council, ²¹ other than this one thing ^(A)that I cried out while standing among them: ‘It is with respect to the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial before you this day.’”

⁸ Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom. ^(A)Their laws are different from those of every other people, and they do not keep the king's laws, so that it is not to the king's profit to tolerate them.
