¹⁴ Then Amos answered, and said to Amaziah:

Judgments on Israel’s Neighbors

1 The words of Amos, who was among the ^(A)sheepbreeders of ^(B)Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of ^(C)Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of ^(D)Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the ^(E)earthquake.

^5 (A)But he will say, ‘I am no prophet, I am a farmer; for a man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.’

Elisha Purifies the Pot of Stew

³⁸ And Elisha returned to ^(A)Gilgal, and there was a ^(B)famine in the land. Now the sons of the prophets were ^(C)sitting before him; and he said to his servant, “Put on the large pot, and boil stew for the sons of the prophets.”

⁵ Now the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came to Elisha and said to him, “Do you know that the Lord will take away your master from over you today?”

So he answered, “Yes, I know; keep silent!”

² And Jehu the son of Hanani ^(A)the seer went out to meet him, and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Should you help the wicked and ^(B)love those who hate the Lord? Therefore the ^(C)wrath of the Lord is upon you.

³ Now ^(A)the sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that the Lord will take away your master ^[a]from over you today?”

And he said, “Yes, I know; keep silent!”

²⁷ But ^(A)God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

³⁴ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, indeed they are written in the book of Jehu the son of Hanani, ^(A)which is mentioned in the book of the kings of Israel.

Hanani’s Message to Asa

⁷ And at that time ^(A)Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him: ^(B)“Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and have not relied on the Lord your God, therefore the army of the king of Syria has escaped from your hand.
