²² Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings,
    I will not accept them,
and the offerings of well-being of your fatted animals
    I will not look upon.^(A)

⁶ “With what shall I come before the Lord
    and bow myself before God on high?
Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,
    with calves a year old?
⁷ Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams,
    with ten thousands of rivers of oil?
Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression,
    the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”^(A)

⁴ Come to Bethel—and transgress;
    to Gilgal—and multiply transgression;
bring your sacrifices every morning,
    your tithes every three days;^(A)
5 bring a thank offering of leavened bread
    and proclaim freewill offerings, publish them;
    for so you love to do, O people of Israel!
            says the Lord God.^(B)

¹⁷ I will offer to you a thanksgiving sacrifice
    and call on the name of the Lord.^(A)

²¹ Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
    for his wonderful works to humankind.
²² And let them offer thanksgiving sacrifices
    and tell of his deeds with songs of joy.^(A)

²³ Those who bring thanksgiving as their sacrifice honor me;
    to those who go the right way,^[a]
    I will show the salvation of God.”

⁸ Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you;
    your burnt offerings are continually before me.^(A)
9 I will not accept a bull from your house
    or goats from your folds.^(B)
10 For every wild animal of the forest is mine,
    the cattle on a thousand hills.^(C)
11 I know all the birds of the air,^[a]
    and all that moves in the field is mine.
