Amos 1:2-2:3

2 And he said,
“[a](A)Yahweh roars from Zion
And from Jerusalem He gives forth His voice;
And the shepherds’ (B)pasture grounds mourn,
And the [b](C)top of Carmel dries up.”
3 Thus says Yahweh,
“For (D)three transgressions of (E)Damascus and for four
I will not turn back its punishment
Because they threshed Gilead with implements of sharp iron.
4 So I will send fire upon the house of Hazael,
And it will consume the citadels of (F)Ben-hadad.
5 I will also (G)break the gate bar of Damascus
And cut off the inhabitant from the [c]valley of Aven
And him who holds the scepter from Beth-eden;
So the people of Aram will go into exile to (H)Kir,”
Says Yahweh.
6 Thus says Yahweh,
“For three transgressions of (I)Gaza and for four
I will not turn back its punishment
Because they took away into exile the whole community of exiles
To (J)deliver it up to Edom.
7 So I will send fire upon the wall of Gaza,
And it will consume her citadels.
8 I will also cut off the inhabitant from (K)Ashdod
And him who holds the scepter from (L)Ashkelon;
I will even turn My hand against Ekron,
And the remnant of the (M)Philistines will perish,”
Says Lord Yahweh.
9 Thus says Yahweh,
“For three transgressions of (N)Tyre and for four
I will not turn back its punishment
Because they delivered up the whole community of exiles to Edom
And did not remember the covenant of [d](O)brotherhood.
10 So I will (P)send fire upon the wall of Tyre,
And it will consume her citadels.”
11 Thus says Yahweh,
“For three transgressions of (Q)Edom and for four
I will not turn back its punishment
Because he (R)pursued his brother with the sword
While he corrupted his compassion;
And his anger also (S)tore continually,
And he kept his wrath forever.
12 So I will send fire upon (T)Teman,
And it will consume the citadels of Bozrah.”
13 Thus says Yahweh,
“For three transgressions of the sons of (U)Ammon and for four
I will not turn back its punishment
Because they (V)ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead
In order to (W)enlarge their borders.
14 So I will kindle a fire on the wall of (X)Rabbah,
And it will consume her citadels
Amid a (Y)loud shout on the day of battle
And a (Z)storm on the day of tempest.
15 And their (AA)king will go into exile,
He and his princes together,”
Says Yahweh.
2 Thus says Yahweh,
“For three transgressions of (AB)Moab and for four
I will not turn back its punishment
Because he (AC)burned the bones of the king of Edom to lime.
2 So I will send fire upon Moab,
And it will consume the citadels of (AD)Kerioth;
And Moab will die amid great (AE)rumbling,
Amid a loud shout and the sound of a trumpet.
3 I will also cut off the [e](AF)judge from her midst
And kill all her (AG)princes with him,” says Yahweh.

Judgment on Israel’s Neighbors
2 And he said, “Yahweh roars from Zion and he utters his voice from Jerusalem; the pastures of the shepherds wither and the top of Carmel dries up.” 3 Thus says Yahweh, “For three transgressions of Damascus and for four I will not revoke the punishment,[a] because they threshed Gilead with threshing sledges of iron! 4 So I will send fire against Hazael’s house and it will consume the citadel fortresses of Ben-Hadad. 5 I will break the gate bars of Damascus and I will cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of Aven and the one who takes hold of the scepter of Beth Eden, and the people of Aram will go into exile to Kir,” says Yahweh.
6 Thus says Yahweh: “For three transgressions of Gaza and for four I will not revoke the punishment,[b] because they exiled a whole community, handing them over to Edom! 7 So I will send a fire against the wall of Gaza and it will devour its citadel fortresses. 8 And I will cut off the inhabitants from Ashdod and the one who takes hold of the scepter of Ashkelon. I will also turn my hand against Ekron, and the remnant of the Philistines will perish,” says the Lord Yahweh.
9 Thus says Yahweh: “For three transgressions of Tyre and for four I will not revoke the punishment,[c] because they delivered up a whole community to Edom and they did not remember the covenant of brotherhood! 10 So I will send a fire against the wall of Tyre and it will devour its citadel fortresses.”
11 Thus says Yahweh: “For three transgressions of Edom and for four I will not revoke the punishment,[d] because he pursued his brother with the sword! He stifled his compassion and his anger tore them apart continually,[e] and he kept his rage forever. 12 So I will send a fire against Teman and it will devour the citadel fortresses of Bozrah.”
13 Thus says Yahweh: “For three transgressions of Ammon and for four I will not revoke the punishment,[f] because they ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead in order to enlarge their territory! 14 So I will kindle a fire against the wall of Rabbah and it will devour its citadel fortresses with a war cry on the day of battle, with a storm on the day of the violent tempest. 15 And their king will go into exile, he and his commanders together,” says Yahweh.
2 Thus says Yahweh: “For three transgressions of Moab and for four I will not revoke the punishment,[g] because he burned to lime the bones of the king of Edom. 2 So I will send a fire against Moab and it will devour the citadel fortresses of Kerioth, and Moab will die amid uproar, amid war cries and amid the sound of a horn. 3 And I will cut off the ruler from its midst and I will kill all of its officials with him,” says Yahweh.
