And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.

10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.

12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,

13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:

14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

Stephen Is Seized

And Stephen, full of grace and (D)power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people. Then some of those who belonged to the synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called), and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of those from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and disputed with Stephen. 10 But (E)they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking. 11 Then (F)they secretly instigated men who said, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.” 12 And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes, and they came upon him and seized him and brought him before the council, 13 and they (G)set up false (H)witnesses who said, “This man never ceases to speak words against (I)this holy place and the law, 14 for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth (J)will destroy this place and will (K)change (L)the customs that Moses delivered to us.” 15 And gazing at him, all who sat in the council saw that his face (M)was like the face of an angel.

Stephen Accused of Blasphemy

Now Stephen, full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people. Opposition arose, however, from some members of the Freedmen’s Synagogue, composed of both Cyrenians and Alexandrians, and some from Cilicia and Asia, and they began to argue with Stephen. 10 But they were unable to stand up against his wisdom and the Spirit by whom he was speaking.

11 Then they secretly persuaded some men to say, “We heard him speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God.”(B) 12 They stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; so they came, seized him, and took him to the Sanhedrin. 13 They also presented false witnesses who said, “This man never stops speaking against this holy place and the law.(C) 14 For we heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs that Moses handed down to us.”(D) 15 And all who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at him and saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

Stephen Seized

Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed great wonders and signs(C) among the people. 11 Then they secretly(H) persuaded some men to say, “We have heard Stephen speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God.”(I)

12 So they stirred up the people and the elders and the teachers of the law. They seized Stephen and brought him before the Sanhedrin.(J) 13 They produced false witnesses,(K) who testified, “This fellow never stops speaking against this holy place(L) and against the law. 14 For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place(M) and change the customs Moses handed down to us.”(N)

15 All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin(O) looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.
