²⁴ And Festus said, “King Agrippa and all who are present with us, you see this man about whom ^(A)the whole Jewish people petitioned me, both in Jerusalem and here, ^(B)shouting that he ought not to live any longer.

⁷ When he had arrived, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing many and serious charges against him ^(A)that they could not prove.

Paul and the Roman Tribune

²² Up to this word they listened to him. Then they raised their voices and said, ^(A)“Away with such a fellow from the earth! For ^(B)he should not be allowed to live.”

² And the chief priests and the principal men of the Jews ^(A)laid out their case against Paul, and they urged him, ³ asking as a favor against Paul^[a] that he summon him to Jerusalem—because ^(B)they were planning an ambush to kill him on the way.

²¹ but they kept shouting, “Crucify, crucify him!” ²² A third time he said to them, “Why? ^(A)What evil has he done? ^(B)I have found in him no guilt deserving death. ^(C)I will therefore punish and release him.” ²³ But they were urgent, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified. And their voices prevailed.
