²⁷ When two years had elapsed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius ^(A)Festus. And ^(B)desiring to do the Jews a favor, ^(C)Felix left Paul in prison.

⁹ But Festus, ^(A)wishing to do the Jews a favor, said to Paul, “Do you wish to go up to Jerusalem and there be tried on these charges before me?”

¹⁴ And as they stayed there many days, Festus laid Paul's case before the king, saying, ^(A)“There is a man left prisoner by Felix,

³ and when he saw ^(A)that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. This was during ^(B)the days of Unleavened Bread.

Paul Appeals to Caesar

25 Now three days after Festus had arrived in ^(A)the province, he went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.

¹⁵ So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having ^(A)scourged^[a] Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

¹⁰ For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying ^(A)to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a ^(B)servant^[a] of Christ.

³² And Agrippa said to Festus, ^(A)“This man could have been set ^(B)free if he had not appealed ^(C)to Caesar.”

³⁰ He lived there two whole years at his own expense,^[a] and ^(A)welcomed all who came to him,
