³ Then there appeared to them ^[a]divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

^11 (A)I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. ^(B)He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit ^[a]and fire.

^32 (A)And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. ³³ I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, ^(B)this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

⁴ And ^(A)they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began ^(B)to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

³² And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

⁶ And the Lord said, “Indeed ^(A)the people are one and they all have ^(B)one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they ^(C)propose to do will be withheld from them.

^10 (A)to another the working of miracles, to another ^(B)prophecy, to another ^(C)discerning of spirits, to another ^(D)different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

¹¹ Cretans and ^[a]Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.”
