Israel Will Be Restored

11 “On(A) that day I will raise up
The [a]tabernacle of David, which has fallen down,
And [b]repair its damages;
I will raise up its ruins,
And rebuild it as in the days of old;
12 (B)That they may possess the remnant of (C)Edom,[c]
And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,”
Says the Lord who does this thing.

31 (A)And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and (B)shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be great, (C)and will be called the Son of the Highest; and (D)the Lord God will give Him the (E)throne of His (F)father David. 33 (G)And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”

35 Once I have sworn (A)by My holiness;
I will not lie to David:
36 (B)His seed shall endure forever,
And his throne (C)as the sun before Me;
37 It shall be established forever like the moon,
Even like the faithful witness in the sky.” Selah

38 But You have (D)cast off and (E)abhorred,[a]
You have been furious with Your [b]anointed.
39 You have renounced the covenant of Your servant;
(F)You have [c]profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.
40 You have broken down all his hedges;
You have brought his [d]strongholds to ruin.
41 All who pass by the way (G)plunder him;
He is a reproach to his neighbors.
42 You have exalted the right hand of his adversaries;
You have made all his enemies rejoice.
43 You have also turned back the edge of his sword,
And have not sustained him in the battle.
44 You have made his [e]glory cease,
And cast his throne down to the ground.
45 The days of his youth You have shortened;
You have covered him with shame. Selah

46 How long, Lord?
Will You hide Yourself forever?
Will Your wrath burn like fire?
47 Remember how short my time (H)is;
For what (I)futility have You created all the children of men?
48 What man can live and not [f]see (J)death?
Can he deliver his life from the power of [g]the grave? Selah

49 Lord, where are Your former lovingkindnesses,
Which You (K)swore to David (L)in Your truth?

Israel Exalted at Last(A)

22 Thus says the Lord God: “I will take also one of the highest (B)branches of the high cedar and set it out. I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs (C)a tender one, and will (D)plant it on a high and prominent mountain. 23 (E)On the mountain height of Israel I will plant it; and it will bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a majestic cedar. (F)Under it will dwell birds of every sort; in the shadow of its branches they will dwell. 24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I, the Lord, (G)have brought down the high tree and exalted the low tree, dried up the green tree and made the dry tree flourish; (H)I, the Lord, have spoken and have done it.

From that time forward, even forever.

16 Now when all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them, the people answered the king, saying:

(A)“What share have we in David?
We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse.
To your tents, O Israel!
Now, see to your own house, O David!”

So Israel departed to their tents.

24 “Have you not considered what these people have spoken, saying, ‘The two families which the Lord has chosen, He has also cast them off’? Thus they have (A)despised My people, as if they should no more be a nation before them.

25 “Thus says the Lord: ‘If (B)My covenant is not with day and night, and if I have not (C)appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth, 26 (D)then I will (E)cast away the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, so that I will not take any of his descendants to be rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, (A)for that which is [a]conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 (B)And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name [b]Jesus, (C)for He will save His people from their sins.”

22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 (D)“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, 25 and [c]did not know her till she had brought forth (E)her[d] firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.
