⁴⁵ The circumcised believers who had come with Peter^(A) were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out^(B) even on Gentiles.^(C)

²³ Then Peter invited the men into the house to be his guests.

The next day Peter started out with them, and some of the believers^(A) from Joppa went along.^(B)

³⁸ Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized,^(A) every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.^(B) And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.^(C)

¹³ When you were dead in your sins^(A) and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you^[a] alive^(B) with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,^{(C) 14} having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness,^(D) which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.^(E)

¹³ Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law^(A) by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”^{[a](B) 14} He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus,^(C) so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.^(D)

Jew and Gentile Reconciled Through Christ

¹¹ Therefore, remember that formerly^(A) you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)^(B)—

¹⁵ “We who are Jews by birth^(A) and not sinful Gentiles^(B)

¹⁵ “As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on^(A) them as he had come on us at the beginning.^{(B) 16} Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with^[a] water,^(C) but you will be baptized with^[b] the Holy Spirit.’^{(D) 17} So if God gave them the same gift^(E) he gave us^(F) who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?”

¹⁸ When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.”^(G)

³³ Exalted^(A) to the right hand of God,^(B) he has received from the Father^(C) the promised Holy Spirit^(D) and has poured out^(E) what you now see and hear.
