⁶ And now I stand on trial because of the hope^(A) in what God promised^(B) to our ancestors, ⁷ the promise our twelve tribes hope to reach as they earnestly serve him night and day. King Agrippa, I am being accused by the Jews because of this hope.^(C)

²⁰ For this reason I’ve asked to see you and speak to you. In fact, it is for the hope of Israel that I’m wearing this chain.”^(A)

² We have also obtained access through him^(A) by faith^[a] into this grace in which we stand,^(B) and we boast^[b] in the hope of the glory of God.

²³ Not only that,^(A) but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the firstfruits^(B)—we also groan within ourselves,^(C) eagerly waiting for adoption,^(D) the redemption of our bodies.^{(E) 24} Now in this hope^(F) we were saved, but hope^(G) that is seen is not hope, because who hopes for what he sees? ²⁵ Now if we hope for what we do not see,^(H) we eagerly wait for it with patience.

¹⁸ I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know what is the hope^(A) of his calling,^(B) what is the wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

⁵ because of the hope reserved for you in heaven. You have already heard about this hope in the word of truth,^(A) the gospel

³ We recall, in the presence of our God and Father,^(A) your work produced by faith,^(B) your labor motivated by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.^(C)
